Coming off winning the Call of Duty League Stage 3 Major, the Los Angeles Thieves opened Stage 4 qualifying with a 3-2 comeback win over FaZe Vegas on Saturday.
The Paris Gentle Mates swept the Carolina Royal Ravens 3-0, the Boston Breach bested the Vancouver Surge 3-2 and the Riyadh Falcons beat the Miami Heretics 3-2 in the day's other matches.
The 12 Call of Duty League teams are playing five qualifying matches apiece to determine seeding for the fourth major of the season, to be held June 25-28 at Nanterre, France. Each team receives 10 CDL points for every win.
Los Angeles dropped the opener 250-207 on Gridlock Hardpoint, bounced back with 6-4 Fringe Search and Destroy and 5-2 Gridlock Overload victories, failed to close out the match with a 250-119 Scar Hardpoint loss but came through in the final game, winning 6-3 on Gridlock Search and Destroy.
Paris completed the only sweep of the day with a 250-197 Colossus Hardpoint victory, a 6-5 Gridlock Search and Destroy triumph and a 5-4 Scar Overload clincher against Carolina.
Boston delivered the most dramatic win of the day after falling behind 2-0 with a 250-234 Scar Hardpoint loss followed by a 6-4 Raid Search and Destroy defeat. Vancouver squandered that strong advantage as Boston won 4-1 on Gridlock Overload, 250-192 on Den Hardpoint and 6-3 on Hacienda Search and Destroy to complete the comeback.
Miami jumped ahead 1-0 over Riyadh with a 250-234 Colossus Hardpoint victory. The Falcons surged back with a 6-5 Fringe Search and Destroy win and a 6-5 Exposure Overload victory to take a 2-1 lead. The Heretics won 250-207 on Hacienda Hardpoint to force the decisive fifth game, which Riyadh won 6-1 on Sake Search and Destroy.
