New Delhi [India], October 2 (ANI): Indian National Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge paid floral tributes to the 'Father of the Nation' Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary (October 2) at Rajghat.
In the early morning of 2nd October 2023, the Congress President arrived at Rajghat to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi.
In a post on X, the Congress president paid tribute to the father of the nation.
"You can shackle me, torture me, you can even destroy this body, but you cannot imprison my thoughts."- Mahatma Gandhi"The thoughts and ideals of the father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi, who inspired the entire world to follow the path of truth, non-violence and peace and was the architect of the Indian freedom struggle, are relevant for us even today.
His ideas like truth, non-violence, peace and equality are being challenged today, but we are fighting it by following the values8203;8203;taught by Bapu" Kharge posted on X. Born on October 2, 1869, in Porbandar town of Gujarat, Mahatma Gandhi or Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi adopted a non-violent resistance and was at the forefront of the freedom struggle against colonial British rule with utmost patience. This led to India finally achieving its independence in 1947.
Fondly known as Bapu, his unwavering belief in 'Swaraj' (self-governance) and 'Ahimsa' (non-violence) won him accolades across the world. Globally, Gandhi's birth anniversary is celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence. Several leaders from across the country come and pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary in Rajghat. (ANI)
