DHAKA -- The number of Bangladeshi people who have so far recovered from COVID-19 reached nearly 100,000 on Monday.
Nasima Sultana, a senior Health Ministry official, said in a briefing in Dhaka that the recovery rate rose to 52.61 percent Monday as more than half of positive cases had recovered from the disease so far in the country. (Bangladesh-COVID 19-Cases)

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed sharply higher Monday as the market mood was bolstered by hopes for an antiviral COVID-19 treatment which has showed some positive results in the United States as well as data showing China's vehicle market expanded rapidly in June.

SANAA -- Yemen's Houthi rebels said on Monday that they launched missile and drone attacks toward the southwest of Saudi Arabia, Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported.
The attacks targeted a military airport in Khamis Mushait city of Asir Region and an oil facility in the industrial area of Jizan Region, the television said, citing a statement by the Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea. (Yemen-Saudi Arabia-Houthi Attack)

WARSAW -- Poland's incumbent President Andrzej Duda has won re-election after a victorious runoff, the National Electoral Commission (PKW) said on Monday.
The incumbent, supported by the governing Law and Justice party, won 51.21 percent of the vote in Sunday's presidential run-off, based on 99.97 percent of precincts reporting.
His rival Warsaw mayor Rafal Trzaskowski received 48.79 percent. PKW head Sylwester Marciniak said that although five precincts, including Warsaw and some ballots cast abroad, still need to report, they will not influence the outcome. (Poland-President-Election)
