Moussa Cisse is close to securing a high school diploma and reclassifying to the college basketball recruiting class of 2020.
Cisse announced on social media Wednesday that he opted to graduate a year early and is near a decision on where to enroll for the 2020-21 school year. Six finalists are in the running for Cisse, a top-10 recruit according to multiple recruiting sites (No. 8 in both the ESPN and 247Sports composite Class of '21 rankings): Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgetown, Kentucky and LSU.
"Class of 2020 decision is real soon," he wrote.
Mr. Basketball in Tennessee, Cisse made only one official visit -- to Tallahassee and FSU -- before the coronavirus pandemic curbed recruiting.
The 6-11 center took unofficial visits to Kentucky and Memphis.
"I am trying to find the best way to the NBA," Cisse told ESPN. "I want to see how my college career will go, but if I do well, I will definitely try to make a move to the NBA. Unfortunately I wasn't able to compete at the Basketball Without Borders Global Camp scrimmages because of Tennessee rules. I was invited to the Nike Hoop Summit, which was canceled, and I missed playing in the EYBL again this summer, so I will try to catch up with what I lost in college and make sure NBA teams learn more about me. I have a lot of work to do."
Cisse is a project in many ways, having arrived in the United States from Africa in 2015 to play at St. Benedict's Prep in New Jersey. Cisse averaged 18.4 points, 15.3 rebounds and 9.2 blocks per game for his state championship team last year.
